14 You have said, (A)‘It is vain to serve God. (B)What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts? 15 And now we call (C)the arrogant blessed. (D)Evildoers not only prosper but (E)they put God to the test and they escape.’”

16 Then those who feared the Lord (F)spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and (G)a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.

What do we gain by carrying out his requirements(C) and going about like mourners(D) before the Lord Almighty? 15 But now we call the arrogant(E) blessed. Certainly evildoers(F) prosper,(G) and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’”

16 Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard.(H) A scroll(I) of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared(J) the Lord and honored his name.
