36 For these things took place in order that the Scripture [in Ex 12:46] might be fulfilled: “A bone of His will not be broken”. 37 And again another Scripture [Zech 12:10] says, “They will look at the One Whom they pierced”.

38 Now after these things Joseph from Arimathea— being a disciple of Jesus, but having been hidden[a] because of the fear of the Jews— asked Pilate in order that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted it. So he came and took away His body.

New International Version
36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled:(A) “Not one of his bones will be broken,”[a](B) 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”[b](C)

38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders.(E) With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.
