Isaiah 55:1-3
New American Bible (Revised Edition)
Chapter 55
An Invitation to Grace
1 All you who are thirsty,[a]
come to the water!
You who have no money,
come, buy grain and eat;
Come, buy grain without money,
wine and milk without cost!(A)
2 Why spend your money for what is not bread;
your wages for what does not satisfy?
Only listen to me, and you shall eat well,
you shall delight in rich fare.
3 Pay attention and come to me;
listen, that you may have life.
I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
the steadfast loyalty promised to David.(B)
Footnotes

when I will send a famine upon the land:
Not a hunger for bread, or a thirst for water,

12 They shall stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east
In search of the word of the Lord,
but they shall not find it.(A)
13 On that day, beautiful young women and young men
shall faint from thirst,
